Edmonton Fasteners & Tools' 35th Annual Open House

Happy Tuesday! Last Thursday (Dec 7) we had our 35th Annual House! Every year we have an Open House event where we invite long-time loyal and brand new customers to our west location. This year we did it differently, instead of being exclusively in the evening, we made it a 12-hour, 7am-7pm, event.

We had vendors expertly demonstrating and discussing their impressive products, special event-only discounts we offered in partnership with our vendors, over forty amazing raffle prizes, our beautiful staff ready to mingle, and lastly, food and drinks! Around 400 guests were welcomed through the doors.

Dremel sent over a professional wood carver to demo the Dremel Plunge Router tool! Anyone could request on to take home!

Dealing With Ice: Ice Melt vs. Rock Salt?

Dealing With Ice: Ice Melt vs. Rock Salt?

The Edmonton area has been experiencing a pretty warm winter. Sure, October was very cold and snowy, but November and December (so far) has been warm and mainly above freezing temperatures. The issue this causes is ICE. Everywhere.

The snow comes, it melts, it freezes, and now we're slippin' and slidin' all over parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and roads. Regardless of the ice, when enough snow gets packed down, it becomes hard and slippery, making it hard to shovel as well. A solution to ice and slippery hard snow is: rock salt and/or ice melt. A question we've gotten a handful of times is...what's better: rock salt or ice melt? Some people think they are the same thing, but they really are not.
